Currently all consultations and therapies are on hold as I have been very busy with yoga teacher training however in the near future I may also be working from various locations within the North West having received several invitations from different Complementary Health Care Centres so keep an eye on new announcements!
Ayurvedic Consultations: 60 to 90 minutes
An in-depth consultation will be carried out to determine your innate constitution (your prakruti) and your current state of imbalance (your vikruti) and this will typically involve some observational diagnostic tools such as pulse taking, tongue diagnosis etc. along with a series of diagnostic questions. You will then be given the opportunity to discuss how you would like to progress with your treatment as there are usually several options. Generally in most situations you will receive personalized dietary advice, we can introduce ways to balance digestion and metabolism, and often there will be the need to gently remove metabolic toxic wastes (ama) from the body; sometimes we will need to introduce tonics to strengthen particular systems of the body. Usually treatments are a blend of several therapeutic modalities such as small dietary changes, a few key changes to your daily routine and simple effective self-administered remedies, there may also be the need to introduce other elements such as massage, the application of herbal oils or the administration of herbal preparations. There are many tools we can use which can also include the therapies outlined below.
Ayurvedic Follow-up Consultations: 30 to 45 minutes
Usually follow-up sessions will be necessary to review your progress, at this time further advice or any adjustments will be given. For more complex conditions ideally we will meet on a weekly or fortnightly basis at first, progressing to monthly or bi-monthly follow-ups; later we will need to review your situation on a bi-annually basis. For more straightforward conditions or when working for preventative purposes fewer follow-up sessions are required.
Ayurvedic Abhyanga (Full Body Massage): 60 to 75 minutes
A massage can be for pleasure or for remedial purposes. Before a massage a mini-consultation will take place so the massage can be tailored to your needs using the appropriate herbal oils and the correct massage style; for instance in some circumstances it will need to be calming and soothing and at other times stimulating and invigorating.
A regular monthly massage is an excellent remedy for the stresses and strains of modern everyday living!
Mukha Abhyanga (the Ayurvedic Non-Surgical Face Lift): 75 minutes
This is a superb method of keeping wrinkles at bay. This intensely relaxing and revitalizing massage improves the micro-circulation and lymph flow in the head region, thereby promoting the regeneration of healthy, younger looking skin. The natural metabolism of the skin tissue is activated and muscle tone is improved so improving the skin’s capacity to retain moisture. The massage gives the skin a smooth texture and appearance, together with a healthy glow. It also helps to remove physical and emotional energy blockages, stimulating the sensory organs whilst relaxing body, mind and soul.
Shirodhara: 60 minutes
We begin with a gentle, calming facial, neck and shoulders massage then a warm herb-infused Ayurvedic oil is gently and steadily poured over the forehead in a continuous stream using a special rhythmic movement. This results in a fantastic sense of deep relaxation and inner peace ~ everyone should try this ~ it is truly divine. The shirodhara treatment is highly effective in removing mental stress and anxieties, creating a meditative mind-state, and is excellent at helping to treat conditions such as insomnia, migraine and hypertension.
One to One Yoga: 60 minutes
Traditionally yoga has always been taught on a one-to-one basis because this allows the practices given to be tailor-made to each individual. It is possible to work on a therapeutic basis or simply as a way in which to establish a regular home yoga practice; it is also possible to work more specifically upon your own self-development or spiritual evolution. We can draw upon different yogic elements such as asana (physical postures), pranayama (breath work), meditation and relaxation and it is also possible to work more deeply with awareness training so your daily life becomes an integrated part of your yoga practice.
Note: It is possible to mix and match therapies, so for example it is possible to link a one-to-one yoga session with an ayurvedic massage and this can work extremely well.
